Third brake light on camper shell Sign In

I have a 1994 chevy Silverado and here in Texas it will not pass inspection because my third light on my camper shell, after market buy, is not working. I want to hook to the wiring harness and I see ford and dodge ,on some models, have it prewired. Are us chevy owners that lucky? Do ya'll suggest to piggy-back off my third light on my cab? I do have a an existing wiring plug-in for a trailer

Yes, it has a trailer plug pre wired but that would be useless to you for a 3rd brake light. The trailer wiring powers the left and right lamp individually and those feeds also operate the turn signals through the same lamps so unless you want your 3rd brake light flashing all the time, you can forget that idea..

There is a brake light relay that is after the brake light switch in the circuit and that is the only place you can tap into to make this work. There should already be a yellow wire going to the existing 3rd light that you should tap into.

It's easier to just tap into the existing light. That wire is already spliced before the relay.

Ok so you are saying tap into the third brake light on my cab. Thank you very much for your guidance and patience.
