Wiper fuse keeps blowing

Hello my fellow car junkies, I have a problem, my wipers had been working perfectly fine. Until a couple days ago when they don't anymore, I have replaced the fuse to no effect once, then did again and looked at the fuse box while I turned the key and seen the spark of the fuse blowing as soon as I turned the key (with wipers being off) any idea what's going on here ?! Is everything gonna go melting if I were to buy higher amp fuses than the 20 it takes so I can actually see where im going in torrential rains ?! :/ lol thanks for any info and tips guys I appreciate and have a great day!! John

Yes, that would be about the dumbest thing you could do. You have a hard short somewhere that has to be found or you just aren't going to have wipers. The first thing I would do is unplug the wiper motor of replace the fuse. If it doesn't blow this time, the motor is the problem. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Update*** I have followed the steps you instructed me to take and after unplugging the motor and inserting a 10A (only ones I have left atm) the fuse remained intact even after turning on the wipers, so before plugging back in I lightly tapped the motor with my multi tool Then plugged it back in, and the 10A still survives even when using wipers in highest speed, :D thank you for the advice but one question remains... I.e. Wtf ?! ... Lol I mean... What could possibly have happened here anyone know ?! Lol thanks for everything have a wonderful day all!! :-)

The brushes shorted inside the motor. I expect your triumph will be short lived.

No, you just need a new motor. It may have gotten wet inside and rusted.

Inspect the wiper motor harness really good to cover your butt. Maybe the harness was chaffing on something and you moved it around unplugging the wiper motor which made the problem go away. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
