Wouldn't start ????

I have a 83 Blazer with a 6.2 diesel with about 220,000 miles on it . I wrote awhile back and have some issues . Tonight I drove to get my hair cut and parked it for about 30 minutes , came out to leave and got about 3 or 4 good cranks before starter started slowing down and the I stopped . The glow plugs didn't come on but engine was about 120 degrees . I replaced the starter a couple months ago because the starter burned up trying to start it up on a really cold day . I replace the alternator a few months ago and the batteries about 10 months ago . Volt gauge shows 14.5 . What do you think ? Thanks

With the voltage at 14.5V, I would suspect the starter. With the temp at 120F, I would think that you wouldn't need the glow plugs, however, they do draw a lot of amperage. Assuming that it isn't the engine itself causing the cranking issue, I'd lean towards the starter or weak batteries/connections. Loren SW Washington

Thanks for the reply !!!I do appreciate your advice . I am leaning towards batteries or connection . When I turned the key on the glow plugs didn't come on . I looked at the voltage gauge and it read about 10 or 11 volts . Help any ???

Like I said, the glow plugs draw a lot of juice. Not uncommon to see the voltage drop that low when they come on. But, you said that the glow plugs didn't come on? With that kind of voltage drop, from 14.5 to 11, I'd surmise that the glow plugs did come on or you've got a battery/voltage problem... Loren SW Washington
