Hello, I am trying to repair my old Saturns cruise controller but I can not figure out where the digital cruise controller module is. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Follow the cable. It goes to the module.

The system consists of a cruise control module, located in the passenger compartment on the driver's side above the accelerator pedal between the steering column and heater and air conditioning control head, control switches, cruise brake switch and, on models equipped with a manual transaxle, a cruise clutch switch.

I have located the Control module and unhooked it from the frame. There is a cable coming from the module to the gas pedal that I can not figure out how to unhook. the cable is attached through a black cylindrical plastic piece. this cylinder has two clips on the side that appear to attach it to the pedal, however, when I unhook the clips the black piece slides out about a half an inch, but the cable doesn't move. it seems like there is a second piece within the outer surface. if I look down into the cylinder i see that there are three clips within it, i am unsure what these do but when i pull on the cylinder, they do not move with it

That's because the cable is part of the transducer. You have to disconnect it from the other end.

I've never had to replace one of those, but it looks like that cable from the cruise module is connected directly to the accelerator cable.

Not sure how you disconnect it from the pedal assembly. Maybe if you remove the pedal assembly you'll be able to see better how it comes apart.
