The only advice I can give you is to go back and look at all the fuses again in both fuse boxes. If you can find anything, then you are going to have to have it towed to the shop and then NEVER let your kids mess with your car again. The level of technology in these cars is far beyond what they can comprehend.

When you are checking these fuses use a test light, then you can verify power is actually getting to them as well. Like HT said, keep the kids out of your electrical system. There is way more going through there than just a stereo as you can now see. Please tell me they didn't try to install an aftermarket one and hacked up the wires. That will guarantee an expensive repair by a mechanic who won't be in a very good mood to have to undo the damage.

What exactly were they doing to the radio? Were they probing wires, cutting wires, installing an aftermarket radio, etc.?

Wild maybe - anything that could get dropped into a cig lighter or power port while butchering the poor thing? Slow burn all the way back to a fuse that didn't blow?

they were installing an aftermarket radio . they cut the wires from the stock radio and attached to aftermarket also hooked the cig lighter up as well it was not connected . i just dont see how everything is gone . there has to be something semi-simple that blew but i cant find it . a friend said something about fusible link but i dont know what that is

You really think so, huh? That's why you are in the situation that you are in now.

Just about everything you have lost is operated by a computer and you can fry one of those in a heartbeat but you have a genius for a son so I guess you don't have to worry about that.

He just turned what most stereo shops will do for under $50 into something that could feasibly reach hundreds and hundreds.

PS, your car doesn't have fusible links and since you have been told 3 times to check all the fuses carefully, things don't look good for you even though I still don't believe you have checked them correctly.

Re: all electrical out Sign In

If all fuses check out in the central fuse panel, probably a good idea to remove what was installed and put it back to how it was. That has the integrated panel for radio and ac. The ac part of the system communicates on a data bus with the other modules in the vehicle including the engine computer. If they some how shorted the data bus to power or ground, that can cause problems with the PCM and the GEM (body control module).

You can get a vehicle-specific adapter to plug an aftermarket radio to your factory harness trouble free and idiot proof for less than $20 at Wal-Mart. its fast, easy and you don't fry these like an egg. Cars aren't like they were back in the day.
