1970 Datsun 240Z. Some relays added on (headlights, wipers, heater motor) 40 over 2800 cc six cylinder engine Thanks for help!!! I have owned this car since 1973 and restored it several times. Turn signal stalk was not staying on so I took the multi switch (lights, horn, wipers) off the steering column. I disconnected the negative side of the battery. (I have done this before with no problems) There are only 4 connections between the left side (turn signals) and right side (lights and wipers). two multi wire connections have only one way to go. flat single and round which are black. I took the turn signal switch apart and cleaned to electrical tabs and stretched the spring. Put all back together. THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS ON(BY MISTAKE) WHEN I RECONNECTED THE NEGAIIVE SIDE OF THE BATTERY. THE FUSE LINK TO ALTERNATOR MELTED. Can't figure out how I messed up.
