On my 1999 Toyota Corolla, one of the wires coming out of the left side fuse is completely torn. It goes from the fuse to the alternator. Not sure how it has happened. There is no burn smell or anything.

Question:

a) Do we know what is its significance or what is its used for? Sometimes my car would just keep clicking and wont start despite having new spark plugs and new battery.
b) How do I replace this wire?
c) Is there a ready kit available in the auto stores or I need to build on my own?
d) What wire guage should I be using?

Regards.

Oddly the pics don't show for me would help. This car isn't starting with wires all messed up by description new battery or not that's problem #1. What to do there now 21 year old be glad it's a popular car still!

Used whole fuse box and all wires if needed is possible of exact one!
Battery? Old one all messed up, shorted or why replaced and was either connected reversed polarity? Charge the new battery first nobody does you don't always know if that one is good yet!
Why the mess: Overloaded, aftermarket stuff added unfused and IDK on the list of things.
Repairing wire: Use the gauge that you get a sample of solder in splices as needed.

This stuff all has to be back to connected and fused properly before you'll know more about the no-start and if it repeats this issue on a one time reason for damaged like that.

Good luck some of that isn't going to be fast or easy to do depending on how involved and damaged? Ask with pics at a parts store and or look on line if you wish for whole box and all wires what's out there that you can use.

Was this there before you worked on it or happened afterwards? Sorry it's all question right now can't know from ne post might end up sending this out if too involved for what tools you have??
