headlights flicker Sign In

1979 ford e 250 van 351. original owner told me the head lights will flicker when using the high beams. He felt it was due to over heating. He tried changing lamps, fuse, etc. Decided to not use highs. I've had the van for a little more than a year. Last night the lamps started to flicker on low beam. What should I be looking for?

It's either a bad connection or a bad earth in your actual bulb holder. You can replace these pretty cheap, but you will have to take it to a pro to geth them fitted as it reqired cutting wires and replacing wires.

Should look like this:

Re: headlights flicker Sign In

I vaguely remember Ford having headlamp flickering problems due to faulty Headlamp switches..

Floor dimmer buttons were a problem spot if used in this van. Connections there or inside the button itself. Headlights could even go right out - used to scare Kitty to death!
