help identifying this broker wire

A recent flood swept by my city just this week and I drove through a flooded street. The day after I found a wire dangling from the hood of my forester broken. Can anyone help me identify this?
The car is working fine, the breaks seem to be working well, wipers and radio also working. gas gauge also looks right.

EDIT:I tied it there just to prevent it from dangling down.

That looks like the outside temp sensor. It may be broken off from it's mounting and probably needs a new sensor.
A little advice on driving through deep water. You are very lucky you still have a car. Many cars have the air intake mounted very low. If you were to suck in any water while driving through that deep water you would have instantly locked up and destroyed the engine in your car.
I have seen dozens of cars towed in with blown engines after high water episodes.

As said and you know it, water is deadly to a car/vehicle. Boats don't like what you did!
Brakes are NOT fine, water wrecks them, bearings anywhere that were warmer sucked in water ends those not now but soon.
That totals cars this one included hope for a fix isn't known most new cars are dumped over less than this sorry to say,

Thank you for both replies. Sadly I had to go to and from the hospital (as seen on my plate that im an MD) with this car hence the need to go through flooded streets. But thanks for both advice as well.
