no crank, no start 2007 Town and Country Sign In

I have a 2007 Town and Country that I jump started, using a portable jump starter. it cranked momentarily, and then lights began flashing, and it stopped cranking. Now; no crank, and cooling fans remain on all the time; regardless of whether key is in ignition.
I replaced the battery, cable ends, pulled and checked every fuse in the IPM, and when I remove the starter relay and jumper across it, the starter cranks. Also, the red security dot remains lit on dash. I attempted to use a scan tool, but it fails to connect. The headlights, radio, chimes, and inside lights function as normal. I'm thinking the PCM, but I wondering how to move forward with diagnostics.

Thanks

Check all the fuses in BOTH fuse boxes. It sounds like the module may be dead but it could also be a fuse.

Does the check engine light come on for bulb check when the key is first turned on?

The CEL does come on. I wasn't aware there was another fusebox. I'm familiar with the IPC next to the battery. Where is the other location?

There is usually one under the dash also but this van could be the exception.

Try moving the shifter around also like trying to start it in neutral.

The front fuse box is also a module that controls the relay for the starter.
You can test for power coming out of the ignition switch, into the Integrated Module on the yellow wire at pin #2 when the ignition switch is held in "start" position.

Re: no crank, no start 2007 Town and Country Sign In

i have a block diagram of the system. Do you back probe the yellow ignition wire from underneath, or check it as ignition fuse cavity on top? Also, is there a breakdown somewhere that shows what wire coming in to the power module corresponds to the layout on top?

Maybe I'm not seeing it, but I'm better with actual electrical schematics, than block diagrams.

I have a chipped key for this, and don't have the original, so it's possible I may need a new key.

Thanks for your help.

If your key is bad you should have some sort of indicator, either a flashing LED or a message somewhere. If you have a professional level scan tool there would be a code stored for that but you won't find it with a simple code reader.

The wire has to be back probed from the incoming plug. There is nothing on top that corresponds to it.

Actually, the red dot is displayed on the dash, indicating a security issue. Since my scan tool won't connect, I may have to pay for someone to come out and make a new chipped key, to rule it out. or, it's the PCM.

No, it will be flashing when you try to crank it if the key fails

If I hit lock twice the tiny, red led stays blinking all the time. That is either from fob or switch inside, key must be out. This my own 2007 Chrysler product. Had spares made to let me inside it would set off alarm. Those keys crank engine but don't allow fuel to pump.
Are they all the same? Who knows this is Mopar some details differ?

Re: no crank, no start 2007 Town and Country Sign In

Right. Unfortunately, my kid lost the factory key w/fob, so he had a chipped key made a few years ago. It could be as simple as hitting the fob button, but with no fob, I was trying to isolate up to that point. It all started with an attempted jump start, so who knows? i actually have a 2004 Caravan that is the same layout. I had a spare IPM for that, so I pulled the one in the T and C, checked the wiring and connectors, and swapped that out. It changed nothing. My scanner won't connect, so whatever it is, is causing a bus problem, too. I've done a bit of research on this, and it points to key, (skreem) system, PCM, or BCM. i just hate throwing parts at it.

Like I said earlier, you need a dealer level scan tool. It will be cheaper in the long run to let the pros diagnose it for you.

I can't prove what to do with later made chip keys? At some point lock cylinder MAY be it, key MAY be it. Hammer is right. Pay for a diagnosis. Now just a note: You took parts out of another model year. There's just no way to know if it's now showing up as THE problem or not. If parts had part #s is a start still not sure it can just swap without side effects?

Thanks. I’ve got one or two tricks left, and then I’ll hand it off.
