I have a 1999 Saturn SL2 with about 135,000 miles on it. Just recently the speedometer and tachometer have started fluttering every few minutes while driving/ accelerating. They will both fall to zero and then flutter back up to the proper speed/ rpm. This had never happened before a couple days ago... in fact, I hadn't had any problems with any of the gages. It has not recently been repaired, so I don't think anything could have been knocked out of place, etc.

That has the symthoms of bad speed sensor,have the check engine light came on anytime this happened?
