start up problems

hi, since a couple of days my nissan primera SW (diesel engine, 2003) doesn't want to wake up after a night sleep. In the morning, as I turn it on, the RPMs go up to 1000 and then drop down until the car turns off. I try to turn it on again and the engine doesn't start.. Then I try again, and maybe one more time, and it starts. But I have to push the gas to keep it on, or it will die again. Then, if I keep it running for 1 minute, I can safely turn it off and on again without caprices. Also, the auto keeps working well the whole day.. What can it be? Dirty spark plugs? If so, shouldn't they *always* give problems, instead of only in the morning? Thanks AC

Sorry, but we don't have that vehicle here in the states, so can't really give you accurate advice. You should swing it over to your mechanic and have them take a look. I doubt it would be dirty spark plugs. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Isn't that always the problem with those diesels? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Not a diesel freak/tech but didn't think they had spark plugs - rather glow plugs? I do know they don't like water in fuel, some had drains on fuel filters to do periodically, T
