tachometer inquiry Sign In

hello, will a motorcycle tachometer work on a car? i bought a Harley davidson tachometer at a garage sale for ¢50, no wire included, at the back there are 2 terminals that says "ignition" and the other one is "trig".. can you point me into the right direction on where and how to wire it ? thank you very much

Re: tachometer inquiry Sign In

Interesting question and my first thought is NO - will not work properly.

Would have to have (I think?) same #of cylinders, 12V systems and one coil. You didn't say on the motorcycle or type of car so lost from the get go on it.

I do think you could with some serious adaptations make it work if you are wildly wanting that to read properly if practical at all?

Not sure - sorry,

T

Tom is right, cylinder count must match. It likely also requires some sort of converter to work.
