I have an 86 toyota engine (22RE) that I cannot get spark out of. I have done some resistance tests on the distributor as well as the coil. I suspect that the problem may lie within the ignitor. Is there some way to test this part, it is expensive to replace

The info I have is kind of vague when it comes to testing the igniter, as in under the heading igniter in the test procedure it’s blank. I think what they’re saying is that if the ignition coil and pick-up coil resistance is correct and power is being feed to the system, replace the igniter. There’s also a notation stating that the distributor on the 22RE is non-serviceable, so I don’t know if you can buy the igniter separately. Here are the spec’s I have. Coil primary tested across the positive and negative coil terminals .5 - .7 ohms. Coil secondary tested at coil positive and coil tower 11,400 - 165,600. Coil insulation tested at coil positive to distributor housing, reading should exceed 10 megaohms (infinity) All these reading are taken with the coil isolated from the rest of the system in other words disconnected. Pick-up coil 400 – 800 ohms Here a diagram of the pick-up coil and where to test. Canadian "EH"
