I have a 2001 Chrysler Concorde 2.7L. My left turn signal does not work when I turn on my parking lights or headlights. The left indicator light stays lite on the dashboard. It flashes fine if I don't turn on the light switch so I don't believe it is the flasher. I have replaced all the bulbs and the parking lamp relay. Could it be the headlight switch or a bad ground?

I'd replace the flasher anyway as they are hard to impossible to diagnose AND check sockets, especially any exposed to weather.

Note: There may be two flashers, one for hazzards and one for directionals in different locations behind instrument panel. Many times if two are used they are identical parts and just swapping them may tell without buying one first. Follow the noise to know which is which,

Thank you for the advice. I can't seem to locate the flasher unit and the panel cover only shows a 10amp fuse for the signals. I can here it clicking but I'll be #&!? if I can find it

Generally speaking they (bonehead engineers) hide them well. If you can hear it I hope you can find it. I know that sound bounces around and until you put your hand on it and sound changed or you feel the ticking you aren't sure - damn things!

A typical Chrsler flasher would probably look like this.........



Can't say for sure for each model and some may use ONE for both hazzards and directionals or be wider than this.

Back to diagnosis: Do the bulbs light when request is put on? Sometimes if a bulb is out or socket failed the indicator on dash will just light and not blink. I plead "I dunno" on how many bulbs for front or for rear are used in this particular car. Some bulbs use two filiments in same bulb - one for lower power running light and a brighter one for hazzards, stop, and directionals.

Bulbs can be bad out of the box too and exact replacements should be used. It would be highly unlikely for a new bulb to behave exactly as an old blown one though.

Sockets can fail inside or wires from backside - especially areas that use salt for roads AND on bulbs exposed to that. Many in trunks and such are not exposed.

This is a car - right? If you have added a trailer hitch and wired that in check there too for wiring screw ups. Those crimp to tap a wire type taps don't hold up well with exposure - bad enough when used out of harm's way.

More: Lack of proper grounding can be a problem too. Check for ground presence by back powering a test light. If missing where it's known that it should be add a temporary jumper of known ground and if that works hunt for where it failed. Many are straps/wires just eyelet bolted to body metal and can look fair but make near no connection. Just some common areas and things that cause hair loss with this stuff.

It could be the multifunction switch itself in steering column but let's hope not for now,

Autozone says it is in the center of the dash???? Not much help.

well I have replaced the flasher and still the problem exist. I am on the hunt for a bad ground. this is very frustrating.

hi im pretty sure that your head lamp switch uses the same lever as your turn signals do, if so,pulling the switch toward you also engages the hi beams, k , so i have found that i can usually confirm a fault with this multifunction switch by lightly pulling the switch toward me /without clicking in the high beams /while at the same time positioning the lever towards the left or right turn signal engagement , quite often you can get them to operate by playing with them gently in this manner I have personally replaced many multifunction/turn signal switches on Chrysler vehicles ..........some food for thought ...hope it helps Todd
