turn signals blinking fast Sign In

I have a 1996 tahoe. My fuel pump was not working and I installed a new one which ended up being a mistake. After putting in the new fuel pump it didn't run. I had read about grounding issues so I put a separate ground wire directly to the fuel pump and it worked fine. after driving the vehicle for the first time in a year the turn signals work fine but when I apply the brake or put my headlights on each turn signal blinks faster.

I cleaned up the second small ground plug from the battery to the chassis and this didn't help the issue. I have not taken off the main ground connector from the battery just because it seems that the car would have an issue turning over if this was a poor connection.

I have two questions. How do I go about diagnosing what sounds like a ground issue? Is there a particular connector which might cause the problem

the second question is Does it even matter? The turn signals work fine although they blink faster.

Thanks

the flasher 'blinking' faster is often a indicator of a burnt out bulb.

I would start with the rear lights-the dual element (3057) bulbs .

? What the heck did you use for ground for the fuel pump other than the frame? Bat- should go to engine and engine on to frame in sight under the hood passenger's side and many more all over the vehicle too.

Do both turn signals go faster or just one side? Bulbs usually don't both fail or sockets both fail at the same time but watch that as kev2 said dual filaments can either mess up or one blows the other works OR sockets inside or back side where wires go in.

Flasher itself is possible if all works exactly fine just too fast for your liking or plain annoying to anyone.

We don't use turn signals where I live as it gives away your strategyCool

I don't think this problem has anything to do with bulbs or sockets.

Look under the truck at the left rear frame rail and look for a ground junction point. Remove all those wires and inspect and wire brush the terminal before putting them back on.

Do both sides do the same? Do all filaments light like just parking lights on and try 4 way flashers.

Grounds can always be an issue so check all you can find. TAHOE? Did this come with trailer wiring plug and if so is that all messed up with other wires or still intact or what?

Test, clean and look. I find fast mean too much current draw and too slow a bulb out more often. Rare for the flasher but not out of the question if both sides IMO nor anything common to all,
