:::Vehicle Information::: Year of vehicle: 1999 Make of vehicle: Cadillac Model of vehicle: Catera Engine size: 3.0 Mileage: ~120,000 :::3 OBD Codes::: P1275 (Accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor 1 circuitmalfunction) P1700 (Transmission control module (TCM) -MIL request circuit malfunction) P1890 (ECM Data Input Circuit?) :::Symptom::: With the transmission in Drive, when I press on the gas pedal the engine revs but the car barely moves. It seems as though power is not transferring along the way to the tires. The only way to get the car to move is to shift into "1" (manually into first gear). When I press on the gas pedal while in 1, the car is slow to react, but moves. Once it picks up enough speed, I then manually shift into "2". The OBD codes seem to indicate a few issues with electronic systems. Would this cause the behavior I'm experiencing? Or does this seem like more of a mechanical issue? All I have done thus far is collected the codes and made sure the transmission fluid was filled properly. I'm open to any ideas.

Yes, the reason those codes are popping up can cause the symptoms your experiencing. Need to scan the TCM and see what other codes are stored. You need a high end scan tool for that. How are your troubleshooting skills when it comes to diagnosing computer/electrical systems? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
