2001 Ford Focus SE Codes and battery issue Sign In

I have a 2001 Ford focus with the ZTec engine and automatic with 119000 on her . A few weeks ago I wrote on here about charging issues . Well I took the old alternator down and had it bench tested and it failed . Was putting out 11.5 volts . So I installed a new one and now it's charging at 14.6 with a load . So you are asking whats this got to do with codes now . Well the battery light came on and I showed it was still charging so I thought maybe computer problem . So I used my scanner and came up with 3 codes and am not sure what to do ? First code was 1700 i think it said throttle sensor . 2. was 1246 transmission out of switch adjustment . 3. 1000 said no input to alternator .There was also something about diagnostic teste wasn't finished or couldn't find it ? So what should I look at and what should be done ? I hope someone can help me !!! Thanks

P1000 would have to do with the OB2 monitors not being complete. Disregard that code because you had the battery disconnected and the KAM may have been reset. Also if you clear codes that will reset all monitors and that could cause the P1000 code to pop up.

P1246 Has to do with the alterator load input failed. There is a trouble chart you have to follow to check the com and mon circuits. I'm going to tell you right off the bat that our shop has seen a lot of problems with aftermarket re-manufactured focus alternators. The regulators are special in them and a lot of aftermarket companies are having problems with them. We never had good luck with any other brands except Motorcraft when it comes to alternators on those. If you didn't install a Motorcraft unit, I suggest you do that.

P1700 has to do with a failed mechanical part in the transaxle. I suggest you fix the alternator problem and then clear your codes and see if that one comes back.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
