2002 civic main. req. Sign In

2002 civic LX with a 1.7 and the maint. req. icon on the dash , at first it was flashing and then it went solid , also had an evap code that a new gas cap took care of (p1457 from my memory ) The code was up for a week till I cleared it and replaced the cap . When I scanned it that same code was listed twice . . Found info on line that said push trip odometer turn to run and wait for it to go off , it did not , any sugestions how to get rid of it ?

Honda Service News February 2003

TITLE:
Maintenance Required Indicator Doesn't Reset

APPLIES TO:
2001-03 Civics, 2002-03 Civic Sis, 2003 Civic Hybrids, 2002-03 CR-Vs, and 2003 Elements.

SERVICE TIP:
Are customers complaining that they can't reset the maintenance required indicator (MAINT REQ'D) on the instrument panel? Find out if the headlights, parking lights, or both were turned on when they tried to reset it. The maintenance required indicator can't be reset if any of these lights are on. In fact, some aftermarket daytime running light devices designed to turn on the headlights, parking lights, or both as soon as you turn the ignition switch to ON (II), must be disabled before the indicator can be reset.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
