Hello, I am new here. My Name is Scott. I am having trouble with my 2004 Pontiac Grand Am. Over the summer I had an issue where on very Hot days once the engine was hot the car would start very hard. I could start it fine when it was still cool, but if I went into a place and came back out to start it again, sometimes I would have to try more than once. And when it did start it would idle higher than usual for a few seconds then go back to normal. My neighbor suggested just changing the air filter, so i did. Still had the problem from time to time. Fast Forward to now, the other night I got home from work and got into my parking spot and my car kind of rumbled and the engine died. I hadn't had that happen before so I tried to start the car again, it wouldn't start. I have a check engine light on so I bought a cheap OBD2 reader. It said there where 3 fault and one Pend, codes I got where P0131, P0128, and P0442. The last one said P0131 P. Now from what I have researched P0131 can mean a faulty o2 Sensor or a short in the wiring to the o2 sensor. P0128 has something to do with coolant temp. And P0442 is a loose gas cap. What I am wondering is would any of these stop the engine from starting? I am thinking about just replacing the o2 sensor without any further diagnostics since it is a cheap part and I feel like a faulty o2 sensor would cause the symptoms I have experienced. Also How do I know which o2 Sensor it is? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. It is a 2004, Pontiac Grand Am (SE2 I think, not sure how to tell.) it has about 208,000 miles on it. Thank You

Those codes shouldn't be causing a no start. You should follow the advice on this page. Post your results. Just because a code has a description of a part doesn't necessary mean that part is faulty. It should be tested to prove if it is faulty or not. http://autoforums.carjunky.com/...LL_NOT_START_P75655/ Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
