Okay, you gotta rookie here so I will do my best.
I have a 2007 Hyunda Santa Fe, V6 2.7L, it has 64,000mi on it and I am the 2nd owner.
Recently the check engine light came in out of the blue and I took it by Advance Auto Parts which revealed a computer code of P2187 - "System to Lean at Idle - Bank 1".
The light has been on for a few weeks now, and I've been monitoring the MPG and it does NOT seem to be affected. Furthermore, the car drives the same as it always has with no issues, EXCEPT:
When I stop the car to add fuel after I'm finished the car acts like it does not want to start. In fact, I have to push the gas pedal half way down and then turn the key to get the car to start and then it wants to die unless I keep feathering the gas pedal while parked at the gas station. However, as soon as I put it in drive and go 1/10 of a mile even, I can stop the car let off the gas and have no issues; everything is normal. Could you please help me narrow down this problem given the additional details? I've read it can be a MAF sensor, O2 sensor(s), a loose hose, and the latest I ran across was an exhaust manifold gasket....SO I'm hoping based on my experiences at the pump it might give the professionals some added insight into what the real issue might be. I don't mind taking my car to have it repaired if I have to, but I really need to avoid that if at all possible.

Part of the problem with the no start after refueling could be a stuck open EVAP purge valve. If the purge valve is stuck open during refueling fuel vapors get pushed into the intake manifold and cause an extremely rich fuel mixture. Remove the purge valve hoses and attempt to blow through the valve. If you can blow through it, the valve needs replaced.
Would need to look at the freeze frame records to see what variables the engine was at when the failure occurred for the lean condition. You would also need some fuel trim information to see if you have a vacuum leak or fuel pressure/injector spray volume problem.

I'll see what I can do right now, I have no idea where these hoses are or the valve is located. I'm going to try to google it and see if I can find an image or something. If you happen to know of a way to tell me where it is or show me that would be great too. I will keep you posted on the progress too.

Were you able to fix your problem with your Santa Fe? I'm having the same exact issue and want to be sure I know what's going on before taking it to a mechanic to have it repaired.
Also, do you think this issue will continue after fueling and eventually the vehicle will not start? I'm stress out each time I get gas but after a few tries the vehicle starts up just as you have described.
Any additional information would be great!!!
