2010 Chevy Malibu LT2 2.4 motor This is a long shot but here goes. Two days ago my car died while I was sitting at a red light on a busy highway. It would start back for only for a second before it died again. Got it home and checked the codes. It was showing P0014 P0030 P0102 P0443. After lots of research, I found a video about the camshaft position sensor. Changed that and the car started and drove fine. Yesterday I’m driving home and it starts spuddering and feeling like it’s going to die right before I got to my house. It was missing a little while driving on a backroad and just feeling weird. I check the codes again and now there are 11, most all about emissions and the P0014 code is not on there now. Any help please! I’m beyond frustrated with this car. I just had two recalls fixed less then a month ago (steering issues and safety issue with brake light). Codes that popped up last: P2433 P0054 P0443 P0418 P0102 P0135 P0141 P0011 P0030 P0036 P0053

How good are you at diagnosing electrical circuits and using volt meters and test equipment? You have a whole lot of circuit codes popping up. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Not good at all. Do you think I did something wrong by changing the cam shaft position sensor that could have triggered all these new problems? I had some issues before the car died on me. In between 2.5-3 rpm the car would start hesitating and rev up and down (what it felt like). That’s been going on for over a year but nobody seemed to know what was causing it and until recently, it didn’t happen often. My back doors will not lock or unlock when I push the buttons. There have been times recently when I would pull onto the highway and had no power for about 10 seconds (as in car barely rolling) and then it would kick in. I’m trying to avoid going to a mechanic until I absolutely have to because I’ve been taken advantage of more times then I can count.

Which camshaft position sensor did you replace? If you clear all those codes, which ones come back? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

I’m going to clear all the codes when I get home from work and recheck. The sensor I changed was right in front of the motor by the grill.

Ok cool. Do you hear any noises (rattling from the front of the engine) when you start the engine after it has sat awhile? The P0014 really has to do with the positioning of the exhaust camshaft phaser being out. Usually it is not a camshaft position sensor that causes that code. Just a question with all that and quoting you from post #3 ">My back doors will not lock or unlock when I push the buttons.<" Do you mean you can't lock them either with power locks or physically the locks are BOTH stuck? If they can work at all what the flood history of this car? That is going to really matter, T

There is some rattling in the front that I hadn’t noticed before. I can barely hear it. I cleared and rechecked the codes. I then tried to start the car, it would die again each time. It will start up magically now. This is so strange to me and is racking my brain! I put my old cam shaft sensor back in and it will start so it wasn’t that after all. The codes now showing are: P0443- P0418- P0102- P0135- P0141- P0030- P0036-

I can physically lock the doors but not by pushing the button. My right rear lock worked for maybe a week and then stopped again. Both front seat lock buttons work just fine. The car has been wrecked and had some front end damage years ago but it’s not been flooded. I checked the wiring in the trunk that I could get to and nothing looked damaged.

You still have a bunch of circuit codes. Starting to think maybe you have a power problem going on. The power for the oxygen sensor heaters, MAF, EVAP vent solenoid, and EVAP purge solenoid all come from the powertrain relay. If it was in my bay, I would monitor the supply voltage at the MAF's pink/black wire and see what happens to that voltage when the problem occurs. That might give you some direction. Thank you! As much as I hate to, I’ll be taking it into the dealership. Do you think it could be a really expensive issue? I have 4 emission special coverages on my car and I called Chevrolet about them today. Apparently since I’m not in California, Vermont, or a few other states, my coverage time and mileage went down so won’t help me there. ): I’ll update when and if I figure it out. I can’t be the only Malibu owner that’s had this problem. Thanks for all your help!

Not really sure what the price of something like that would be to repair. They will charge you a diagnostic fee of course. Let us know how things turn out. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
