2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport, 3.6L,75K miles

I just replaced the oil filter housing with OEM part purchased from MOPAR. Took for test drive, everything great until I got out of neighborhood. As soon as I got up to 35 MPH and RPM's got up to 2500-3000, temperature rapidly increased and aux fan kicked in. Returned home and checked codes, got P06DD. Suspect oil pressure sensor. I know connector was securely attached but getting ready to tear apart to check. If it is the sensor, would that cause it to overheat? I also checked oil level and the tip of the dipstick was too hot to touch.

Thanks

The overheating and the code appear to be 2 different things. The code is and indication that the oil pump is not changing speeds as it is a 2 speed pump. It has a solenoid that controls that.

The overheating could be anything. See if it has lost any coolant.

You're exactly right. I was about to rip the manifold off and coolant popped in my head. I lost some when I pulled off the oil filter housing. It didn't seem like much. I added a half a jug to the radiator, Doubted that was enough to cause overheating, but runs perfect now, stays at 212.

Turns out the code was archived, not active. Probably trigger when I lost all the oil, hence the housing replacement. Not a fun job btw.

Thanks for the advice!

Check that coolant level a couple more times when the engine is dead cold to get all the air pockets out.
