About 2 months ago I was on the interstate (70 mph), and the car shifted out of overdrive and continued to go in and out of overdrive while the check engine light flashed simultaneously. I assumed that it was the TPS which would explain the code 22 and I could easily replace it, but, my transmission has a very slow leak so I wondered if it was a mechanical problem. My battery also went dead so the car sat for 2 days and when I replaced the battery and started driving it again, it does not shift into overdrive at all and the engine light is always on. Not sure if it is related, but it also stalls sometimes below 5 mph. Checked and topped off tranny fluid, looks clean.
I guess I just need to know if it would be worth it to replace the TPS or see a mechanic (I would like to avoid that if at all possible, I can do small repairs myself). Also, if it's not to much to ask in one post, the a/c and the cruise control stopped working. Cruise control just quit after the battery died. The a/c used to work great and I don't think the problem lies in the a/c unit as much as it is the climate control because the climate control won't work even for heat. The fan blows hot, but not cold.
I'm getting a code 66: engine power switch, voltage high or low, or pcm fault OR a/c pressure sensor circuit fault.
Even if anyone doesn't have a specific solution to these problems I would be greatful for just some insight or speculation on the symptoms. Could they be related? Should I just drive it till it dies? I'd be willing to put some money into it to keep it going, but if it sounds to anyone like a lost cause then I could accept that too. Thanks A lot to anyone who posts!

standinish; The O/D, stalling, issue sounds like classic TCC problem. Although the CEL will probably stay on, you can try disconnecting the TCC connector at the transmission and take it for a drive. The O/D will not work, but if the stalling stops, you'll know that it's the TCC solenoid causing that problem. The TCC solenoid is inside the trans. and about $250.-$300. to have replaced.
Can't help you on the A/C or cruise problems, though. Sorry.

Re: 92 buick 3800 code 22 and 66 Sign In

like loren stated disconnect tcc connector and see if it goes away.I would troubleshoot code 22 and code 66.code 22 is low tps voltage...this occurs when the ecm believes that it has completely lost contact with the tps.in order for this code to set the voltage at the tps input must have dropped to less than 0.25 volts while the engine was running.the tps receives a 5 volt reference from the ecm if this circuit becomes open or grounded code 22 will set.also a open or ground in the signal wire from tps to ecm will set code 22.Would need a dc meter to troubleshoot this code.code 66 is not engine power switch voltage high or low unless you have a 5.7 L engine.code 66 is low A/C refridgerant charge.Check to see if the compressor clutch engages.as far as the cruise control stop working it may or not have anything to do with the tps low voltage.did it stop at the same time the tps code or check engine light came on?was the check engine light on steady or was it flashing?
