I have a 97 honda civic and engine light came on with codes p1162, p1166, and p1167. I changed the 02 sensors and cleared the codes and the p1162 code came back up. Any one know what I need to do to fix this problem or is the 02 sensor I installed not working correct. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

There are many more things, other then a sensor that will trigger a code. I just had a read through the test procedure for P1162 on this car and it starts off by checking for continuity between the PCM and the front O2 sensor. From there, depending what is found; the procedure takes you into testing for specific voltage & resistance values between different PCM connector(s) terminals. Again depending what is found, the test would take you towards repairing wiring, repairing connectors, replacing sensors or the PCM itself. These are very precise tests that need to be done by someone very familiar with their test equipment & the test procedures, set out by the manufacturer. If these procedures are not followed to the letter; it could be very easy to misdiagnose a PCM, when the actual problem could be a ten cent wire repair. I suggest taking the car in & have it diagnosed by someone; yes you’re going to have to pay for this but at least you’re going to be repairing/replacing the proper thing(s). You may have already spent some of your hard earned money, replacing a sensor that may have been perfectly fine? Dan. Canadian "EH"
