99 Corolla Check Engine Light

Howdy,
I don't have a scanner and I've taken my 99 Corolla to a few mechanics. They've scanned it and checked the engine and they checked the gas cap. They can't find anything wrong with it. It's a strange situation because what seems to trigger it is turning it on twice or thrice in the same day with no more than maybe an hour between driving sessions. I'll give some examples. I go to get some gas and the light turns on maybe 2 minutes after I've left the gas station. Driving the car for about 15 miles is enough to get it to turn off on its own. Same thing happens when I go to the car wash sometimes. I drive it for 15 miles and the light turns off. Any thoughts? The help is much appreciated. Also, I'm not savvy with cars.
