GM Code 26 - Quad Driver Sign In

I have been recieving a fault code 26 ("Quad Driver Circuit"). I have heard there are a myriad of things that can cuase this, but I have a hunch. I have a '92 Saturn SL1 with a 4 cylinder DOHC. The engine used to be equipped with a compressor for air conditioning, but it never worked right so I tore it out (compressor and all and switched to a different serpentine belt). Im wondering if this lack of compressor is my problem and how I could determine that is the case. Any other sugestions? Thanks!

A quad drive doesn’t actually turn on the AC compressor. So you electrically disconnecting the compressor clutch should not set this code unless you have also removed the relay. Which would make the computer think there is an open in the pull in coil circuit of the AC control relay.
