Nissan Micra P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Sign In

Hi,

My 2001 Nissan Micra 1.0L keeps throwing P0135 codes - it's done it for ages but its been getting more regular. Its likely to fail the MOT (smog) test as is. I replaced the O2 sensor a couple of months ago because it was throwing lean codes too (P0171) but running really rich. That cured the rich problem and it goes pretty well (for a 1.0L car!).

However it still throws P0135s.

Its a Bosch system in these cars and I replaced the sensor with a Bosch model rather than aftermarket. I am trying to take measurements, but I am unsure if I have the wiring the right way round (manual does not list wiring for ECU parts).

The sensor has 4 wires: gray, black, white and white. I think the heater is white to white. It reads 9ohms.

Can anyone confirm the colours of the wires?

Thanks, GDL.

You just bought a universal aftermarket sensor. Buy a direct fit and you probably won't have any problems.

The original one was Bosch too. If I recall correctly, I got it from Nissan themselves over the parts counter. Cost about £50 rather than the £20 which the aftermarkets ones do. I'm pretty sure its the real thing...

If you're asking me how to wire it, then it wasn't the real thing.
The real ones just plug in.

It plugs straight in. I am asking which wires do what so that I can test it. I'm getting 9ohms across white and white. I'm guessing that this is the heater and that 9ohms sounds about right.

I am more suspicions of the wiring to the o2 sensor ie the wiring loom (though I have not ruled out a sensor problem).

I don't have any info on the Micra because it isn't sold here. What American model would it be equivalent to?

Re: Nissan Micra P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Sign In

I never saw them in the States. But I *think* the Cube shares the same engine, though they are rare everywhere. Wiring colours I guess will be the same for any Bosch product, of similar age I should think.

Assuming:
  • Black = Signal
  • Grey = Ground
  • White = Heater Power or Ground
  • White = Heater Power or Ground (opposite of white above)
should I see 12v at one of the white wires at key on? It jumps from 0v, but is only showing a fraction of a volt.

I was looking for the wiring diagram for the car, not the sensor, then you could see what color mates to it. As far as the sensor, the instructions that come with it identifies the color codes. You are likely right about the 2 whites.

So does 9 ohms across the heater sound about right? And should I see 12v at one of the two wires at the end of the wiring loom? I assume the other should be ground...

Just compare that resistance reading with another sensor and yes, you should have power on one of the feed wires.

Re: Nissan Micra P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Sign In

I got power, but not 12v. I think the loom or a connector is damaged somewhere. The ground (the other white) has resistance to ground too - guessing that is wrong too.

Think we found the problem!

Thanks for your help Hammer Time

The heater likely grounds through the PCM so you should measure the voltage between the 2 wires.
