PO302 code misfire

2001 dodge caravan 3.3L, 56328 miles the scanner pulls up a PO302 code #2 cyl. misfire changed plugs no change-changed plug wires no change.My question is what's my next step?my snap-on 2500 scanner test that only the #2 cyl. is misfiring 458-1153 time at an idle.

The next suspect would probably be the fuel injector. Before actually changing it, I would remove it and out it in a different cylinder and clear the codes to see if it causes misfire in a different cylinder now.

Still a lot of bricks out there......Those were great scanners back in the day......
Along with swapping the injector as HT suggested, you may want to take a compression reading as well.
An 01 Caravan with only 56k on the clock...............damn..........

Still a lot of bricks out there......Those were great scanners back in the day...... Back in the day? Hell, I still have 2 of them and I would take them over a Modus any day. Much faster.
Depends on what your definition of faster is. The brick won't idle relearn a Nissan, do a cyl contribution test on a Ford, home the gears on GM HCU. You can't check the cmp/ckp sync on anything, dial in a Ford cmp sensor, get injector patterns,do a relative comp test, get comp wave forms, current ramp ANYTHING. No ignition scope. No exhaust gas readings and about a million other things I'm forgetting.......
Sry dude.....The Modis rocks and when they finally get the bugs & OS problems worked out on the Verus, it will take out the Modis.(That Verdict® post I made....I'm betting that is the Modis replacement down the road)
My shop has a Verus & I just plain don't use it........Way too slow to boot....5 minutes!!!! Gets slower as the day goes on, locks up.. I won't go thru all the features but one of things I really like that the Modis doesn't/can't do....Is you can use the scanner module & scope at the same time.....You can use the bi-directional controls, commands something off or on and at the same time be tapped in with the scope and see what's going on.....Very nice.
There has been a few times I've had to hook up my Modis for the scope and use the shop Brick for the bi-directional controls.. On the occasions I had the time, I used the Verus for both, one word.........Sweet........
The Brick, with the black cartridges, will boot slightly faster than a Modis (You can't bring up the red cartridges...apples & oranges).....and way faster than a Verus.....that's about it.........
If you want to go the OBD I route and bring up how Modis software has holes and communication problems with OBD I vehicles....You would be absolutely right....But that is why they have the legacy software buried deep in the utililies that's a PITA to find if you don't know about it ......It is Brick software....The exact same software.....S O knew they had problems with OBD I & their new stuff and wisely keep the old software around...... You just have to know where it is..........
Back in the day the Brick was KING.....hands down thee best AM scan tool available........

I moved #2 injector to #6 cylinder their was no change,the misfire is still at #2 cylinder.

after injector change i ran engine up the road and back my compression on #2-190psi #4-195 an#6-190
|

Something has to be flawed with your testing somewhere. Which cylinder are you calling #2?
Have you verified the firing order?

open the hood the three cylinders facing me passenger too driver side are #2-4-6 and the one's up by fire wall are #1-3-5 correct.

Yes, that's correct. Your saying that you have compression, spark and fuel so it's shouldn't be misfiring. Something is wrong wit either the testing or the firing order.

The compression seems a bit high but we can always come back to that later.......
Grab a noid light check for injector pulse on #2.
Just for the heck of it, open up the injector harness right at the connecter where it connects to the main harness by the p/s reservoir, it's easy enough...... You aren't getting the codes I would expect but it's fairly easy to do....

I purchased a repair manual read about the noid test lights before your reply I also used the injector kill test from my brick as it's called mt2500 #2 cyl no change & #5 had a big change from all other cylinders #2#5 use same coil butt #2 cyl has no spark too the plug noid on #2cyl flashed as it should so i purchased a coil pac an it's runing fine......thanks for the HELP guys.

Well it sounds like you got it nailed, good deal.
I'm guessing that maybe you weren't getting a good contact or something when checking the pulse on #2, because if it really doesn't have a pulse, there would be a noticable misfire. But if it's running good, no SES, it might be a good idea to let sleeping dogs lie....
