code p0300 Chevy Malibu 03 142k miles Sign In

Hi guys,
I really need help I got a car 4 weeks ago I brought a car (03 Chevy Malibu base 142k mil, 3.1L V6) and the check engine light was on, so it was no way for me to pass state inspection. I replaced the battery, did a oil change and a coolant flush. Went over to autozone and had them scan it for me and code p0306 was coming up, so I changed the spark plugs in the front cylinders (2, 4, 6) and the wires. So I went to a shop to have them inspected it and put a sticker on it. But it failed, so the shop started working on it to get the code to clear, first they changed the coil pack thin the injection valve, nothing worked thin they checked the locker arms in the motor and seen that one of them was broken and lost the thread. They replaced it thin seen it messed up a piston and they replaced that. They started it back up and the p0306 code was gone and now they say its giving a p0300 code. They have had my car for 7 days now. Can anyone help me out on what to tell them to check next.

Are you telling them how to diagnose your vehicle? They should be trained professions and know how to troubleshoot drive-ability issues. That's unless you took it to Ernest and Goober's back yard bonanza.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

ok so there are alot of options for the code p0300 here is the list

Faulty spark plug
Faulty ignition coil
Clogged or faulty fuel injector
Intake air leak
Fuel injectors harness is open or shorted
Fuel Injectors circuit poor electrical connection
Ignition coils harness is open or shorted
Ignition coils circuit poor electrical connection
Insufficient cylinders compression
Incorrect fuel pressure

I would get the electrical connections check first and get the fuel pressure checked and clean the injectors. That will be the easy and relatively cheap things to check first

Mustang95 Please refrain from posting generic junk that you copied off the Internet. There are a hundred things that can set a P0300 and it needs to be troubleshooted by a professional.

First of all that is the general guidelines that a technician will use to help diagnose P0300. Second I am aware that this needs to be checked out by a professional the OP was asking what he could get the professional to look at since his car is already at a shop. Third I am an ASE certified technician and I simply gave him some information about what COULD be the problem no where did I say this WAS the problem. There was no reason to call my post junk.

If you really are a tech, then you know damn well that generic JUNK isn't going to find his problem. You simply copied a generic list of possible causes for a code that we know has far more possibilities. We don't Google answers here.

Your list is right here word for word.
