Test for both power and ground at the fan. If you have both, the fan is bad. I have doubts about your testing because that code is for a fan control circuit.

Re: p0480 code help... Sign In

Well, in order to do that you need to perform the test properly. You stated that you were getting power to the fans and I seriously doubt that to be true so check it again and check for ground also.

With a test light that reads both power and ground and test the 2 wires going into the motor while unplugged to see that one has power (yellow) and one has ground (black).

well, we shall see what happens i guess. but if the fan is bad, that wouldnt explain the code for the control circuit would it?

Yep, that's what I'm saying. That's why I'm doubting your tests.

That's unless of course you have 2 different problems.

Re: p0480 code help... Sign In

Now we have a different issue. I looked up the wiring diagrams for both possible engines available and both only have one fan with one speed so i don't know what you even have. PO481 shows as an invalid code for that vehicle. Are we sure about all the info you're giving me? Is this a US vehicle?

The only other option I have is an SRT-4 with a 2.4 turbo.

Re: p0480 code help... Sign In

Well, all 2004 with 2.0 only show one fan in the wiring diagram. I just checked 2 different data sources Alldata and Mitchell) and found the same diagrams in both so something is different about this vehicle that I'm not aware of.

Re: p0480 code help... Sign In

We are aware of what the codes mean. The problem is this car isn't listed as having the PO481 or even 2 fans.

Re: p0480 code help... Sign In

Those codes are listed for that vehicle in Motor3k

If you look in the radiator fan description and operation section it does have the option of dual fans.

The wiring schematic your looking for is 8W-30-24. It is listed in the powertrain electrical schematics index, but there is no hyperlink. You'll have to contact Alldata library to get the schematic you need.

OK, I did find a dual fan diagram for that car but it's only listed for the 2.4 turbo.

Don't really know if the SRT 2.4L 8w-30-24 is different than the Neon 2.0C/F 8w-30-24 though.

Use the diagram to determine what's missing on the other one.

Here's another one I found in Identifix that was listed under both 2.4 turbo and 2.0 16 valve.
