Probably. If the cam sensor signal is missing or isn't sync correctly it is possible that emission monitor won't run. The computer would have to guess at the injection timing which could cause drive-ability issues. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Just the fact of having the code stored is enough to fail in most states. If you try to clear it you will fail for the monitors not being ready. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Right on the top of the block near the front. You will have to drive the car around for a good while after clearing the codes to get all the monitors to reset.

Some thoughts on this: Who found this code and was light on or was it a pending code? DS suggested it would have a "drivability" issue - does it? HT said and correct that if a code is noticed in now many places it will reject the "smog" part of an inspection and not be ready either for some time at least where I am if it was errant or reset/codes cleared. You would get a reading of "not ready" with nothing wrong at all if so. The point is, if so you may end up playing ping pong with being ready doing anything for the retest. Find out for where you are, T

He's already there. If he's going to clear the code, he might as well change the sensor first as he will have to go through getting all the monitors to reset twice otherwise.

Why don't you clear the code with a code reader or scan tool and make sure it doesn't code again? Then drive the vehicle to complete the emissions monitors. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

No, the issue isn't clearing the codes. The codes can be cleared manually. The problem is that all the monitor system have to go through a complete cycle to test every monitors function and give the computer a clean bill of health. Simply clearing the codes is not sufficient. The sooner they are cleared, the sooner the drive cycle will start.
