troublecode P1494 LEAK DETECTION PUMP SYSTEMS Sign In

i have a 1997 plymouth breeze the ckeck engin light is on i checked the codes it was a 31 the took it to the dealership they say its throwing the code P1494 wich is a problem with the L.D.P. they want $800.00 to replace it. i declined the service and on the paperwork it says they need to reflash my P.C.M. but didnt . i loooked up the T.s.p's on my car and it said SUBJECT REGARDING MISDIAGNOSED LEAK DETECTION PUMP SYSTEMS WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES P1494, P0442 P0455, OR P0456 could that be why the P.C.M. needs to be reflashed? reflashing the P.C.M. is to reprogram it right????and if thats correct wouldnt you want to reflash the P.C.M. first before you make a diagnosis. kinda sounds like they are tryin to rip me off. im sure they have the T.s.P's on my car ... i dont know ....My question really is , is there any way for me to reflash my P.C.M. myself???? if anybody could shed some light on this for me i would really appreciate it

The code 31 you retrieved will cover 7 0f the P codes. If the dealer retrieved the P code, it is probably the correct code. As far as them doing the TSB, that is a customer pay repair. You can request they look into that TSB and request that they try that. If they do that, there is still a possibility the pump or switch is bad. SO it will still need repaired. If you can purchase the part yourself, replace it and see if it will cure the light. If you don't have the mechanical ability to do the repairs, then you have to trust someone else to take care of your car.
