07 Chevy Aveo nightmare

My Chevy Aveo LS suddenly idled very rough one morning and when my husband pulled the plugs, they wells were full of oil. We went through this about 1.5 years ago and changed the valve gaskets. So here we go again, and while we were at it, we changed the timing belt (117,000 miles) and the water pump gasket, because the belt was long overdue. We checked the timing twice, the car cranks up fine and idles perfectly. But as soon as you put it in gear it spits ans sputters. It will drive, but gets rougher as the engine warms up. This started suddenly, so I don't think cat or fuel system problem. I am afraid we pinched, cut or unplugged something electrical during the fixing session. Thanks in advance! Hille

Is it doing the exact same thing that it was doing before the repair or are there now new symptoms? Is the check engine light on? If so, what code or codes is it throwing? Even if the cel isn't on I would still get it scanned as there may be some codes stored in the history.

No, it is different. When it first started, it idled rough and was missing. Once we cleaned the wells and put new plugs in it, I drove it in the yard and to the garage and it was "fine" (besides the oil leak). No it idles perfectly, but as soon as it goes into gear it starts missing, the warmer the engine gets, the worse the problem. I have no code ... I don't have a code reader. Unfortunately I don't have the funds to put it in the shop.

Problem solved, we changed the ignition coil. This was the last straw and it worked. Car cranks up fine, idles and runs smoothly. Thanks for you input!

Lucky call. Buy a lottery ticket now! The crap shoot method of finding what the source of a problem is via tossing parts isn't usually that lucky unless you could see something going wrong or bumped it or something, T
