I have a 1978 Honda CVCC Wagon. We have recently replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter but no fuel is getting from the tank to the pump. Can a fuel relay cause this problem?

Can you hear the fuel pump run when you crank the engine? Have you used a multmeter and checked the pump's power feed and ground at the pump connector while cranking the engine?

Is the pump wired backwards?

My husband said he put it in the way the other came out and that this problem is why he changed it.

If he has a meter or test lamp have him make sure the wire that has voltage on it when cranking the engine is going to the positive side of the pump.

The pump could be sucking air from the inlet side. Disconnect the hose from the tank and attach another hose to the inlet side of the pump long enough to stick into a gas can. See if the pump sucks out of the gas can. If it does, you may have something going on inside the tank if the inlet line from the tank looks good to the tank.
