I have a 1990 oldsmobile cutlass 2.5 with a automatic 3 speed transmission, about 100k miles. For the past week the car has shut off while driving down the road without notice about every 10 miles or so, its like somebody just turned the key and then the temperature light comes on, and then the rest of the dash lights up about 2 seconds latter. then i have to shift to neutral and park by the road and it starts up without a problem. Yesterday i refilled the gas tank and put a bottle of fuel dryer and some seafoam in the tank. Today i was driving down the road and the car almost shut off, ran strong for a second and then almost shut off again 3 times in about 5 seconds. The car died on the last time and i had to pull over, park and restart again. The crankshaft sensor was replaced a couple weeks ago but it ran fine until this week. Please help this game of guising were ill have to pull over next is getting old

Hardest part of troubleshooting a problem is when the problem corrects itself faster than you can figure out what the problem is. Most people don't have the equipment laying in the garage to diagnose problems such as yours. How long after the car dies does it take to restart it? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Ive tried starting the car in neutral while still rolling down the road but it wont start, But as soon as i put it in park it fires right up like any other time. Ive also noticed the top hose from the radiator (flows to engine) is very hot, is this normal considering I'm only driving 13 miles at 55mph ? The car is also cutting off at about the same distance from were i stared each time going to and from work, sometimes the driveways i use to park in and restart are within sight of the one i used the day before

By darker do you mean black like saturated with motor oil? If so save your money on buying that coolant. Its not going to help.
