1990 pontiac sunbird 2.0L 4cyl 246 000km when my car starts it starts perfect and runs well for 15 seconds and then starts over revving. i though it might be the throttle cable so i replaced it but the problem was still there. any suggestions?????

You can try disconnecting the idle air control motor and then starting the car. If the idle is low, you need to check the IAC signal with a plug in test light. If that all checks out ok, replace the idle air control motor. Other items that can cause this could be faulty head/gasket, intake manifold leak, vacuum leak, faulty MAP sensor, faulty TP sensor, or a faulty coolant temp. sensor. Steve
