Hello, I have a 1992 Chevrolet Cheyenne C1500 with a V6 engine. It has a mileage of 323732. The truck has not been starting for a few years now. I recently replaced the starter and got a new battery for it. When I turn the ignition, I get a loud whirring noise as if the starter is connected but is just spinning and not meshing to the flywheel of the engine to start the truck. I thought it could also be that the starter is not giving enough power to start the engine. The headlights and cabin lights will work, but the truck itself will not start. Was there something else I could try? Thanks Smile

Good luck with that one.

You are seriously trying to revive a truck with over 300K that has been parked for years?

You probably have a better chance to hit the Mega-millions.

Aggh! Good luck with the 10,000 other things it still should have "cranked" and it might have. Did you or anyone see engine turning like without compression?

Problem sounds like a bad starter drive is inside the starter you replaced.
That or engine turns and a maybe hydraulic lifters have just collapsed has no compression??
If this was outdoors and now rusted vs dry storage and great body on it would be worth more in parts. Expect tires to be junk, brakes junk IDK with exhaust or if had fuel in it another whole problem.
How about looking for another if you like this one for some reason see how much a nice running one is now help you make up you mind,

T
