1992 jimmy random stalling Sign In

this is the same 1992 jimmy you helped me with befor.
it runs good no flaws or skipping or nothing when it runs. but it stalls at random times. its reading code 15 & 43 im using an actron cp9001 the site says
15 is low coolant temperature
43 is electronic spark timing malfuntion.

i just changed the fuel spider, while i had it apart i did cap and rotor, and wires the plugs were new when a altinator locked up it destroyed a plug so i just changed them all.

when it stalls sometimes it starts right back up other times you have to wait about 15-30 mins.
thanks
-tim

The code 43 is a hint there may be a problem with the Ignition Control Module.

You sure that is code 43...cause 43 is for the knock sensor circuit.

esc is the box that plugs into the distributor right? is that the only thing the code 43 can mean?

Re: 1992 jimmy random stalling Sign In

Never heard of a knock sensor fault causing the engine to stall out.

Quote
Circuit Description:

The Code 43 circuit consists of two knock sensors with one wire that is spliced together and goes directly to the ECM. There are two Code 43 cheeks performed by the ECM. One check consists on monitoring CKT 496 for a voltage that is above 0.63 volts and below 4.38 volts.

If voltage is either too high or too low, for 2 seconds, Code 43 will set. Once engine temperature reaches 20°C increase from start up or 85°C, MAP reading above 83 kPa and engine speed below 3800 rpm, the ECM will perform a self check by advancing the timing incrementally up to additional 23° advance while anticipating a knock signal. If no knock signal is received during the test, Code 43 will set.
