93 Grand Marquis-109,000 "check Engine" light is on. Car always hesitates upon acceleration, at all speeds. Is it the thottle? Has anyone had this problem before? Also, I get a mild vibration from under the hood at times and the car stalls or wants to stall. Any answers would help me start in my troubleshooting process. Iam positive that its not the transmission. The car shifts perfectly,it just hesitates and the speedometer even reacts to the speed changes

That should be the 4.6 engine. I have had quite a few that had plug wire troubles right at the long plastic end that attaches to the plug. That would trigger the check engine light but may clear up if that's it and engine runs well again for a while, T

I believe this vehicle has a Mass Airflow Sensor. Start the car and let the engine idle. Tap on the MAF Sensor and shake the inlet tube around and see if the engine responds to the vibrations. If when you tap the sensor the RPM's become erratic or the engine stalls out, replace MAF Sensor. Tom is also correct on the secondary ignition components. If you have faulty plug wires for instance, the vehicle will buck and surge. If you have access to a scan tool, you can retrieve the codes and diagnosis will be more direct. Knowing the codes up front usually sends the mechanic down the correct diagnostic path. Right now it's more of a wild goose chase using a process of elimination.
