1994 toyota hiace engine cuting out

hey Today i started up my van and when to drive home and it was fine until i same to a stop sign slowed right down and it cut out? then i started it again and drove fine then each time i came to a stop it shut down? When i have it in park it goes then i tryed to put in reverse and it cut out?? does anyone know what the problem is? thanks

The most common thing I run into with idle quality issues is a dirty/sticky IAC motor. In most cases, cleaning does the trick..Of course, there are a multitude of possibilities that could cause the same symptom. The IAC (idle air control) is an electric solenoid that opens and closes, controlling air intake to control idle speed. I'm pretty sure the Toyota uses a MAF system. (Mass air flow). Clean the MAF at the same time. You may get lucky. Loren SW Washington
