Have a 32 code for EGR, I re-routed the vacuum from the carb to EGR solinoid to EGR valve to apply vacuum (not hand pump avail) and there was good vacuum but no reaction but push on diapham got re-action. This action should have gotten a re-action applying the vacuum correct?

If your saying that when you pushed the diaphragm with your finger, the engine tried to stall but nothing happend when you applied vacuum to the valve (engine running), then you likely have a bad valve. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Dean; A lot of these EGR valves are the backpressure type, meaning they won't open with a vacuum source unless they have backpressure. Might want to check that prior to replacing it. Ooops. Just checked. This is a negative backpressure type. It should open and hold vacuum with engine off. Loren SW Washington

I did specify that the engine needed to be running when the vacuum was applied.
