Hi, I have a 1995 Buick LeSabre, I bought the car from a private owner and it sat for a year before we purchased it.

I've had it for about 3 months.

I was tolled by a mechanic the car's computer is reversed (Backwards), so when the check enginelight is on the car runs fine, and also sometimes when the light is off it also runs good. He said it was something he has never seen before.

Lately, the voltage and temperature light has been coming on and going off as I apply my foot to the brake, making the check engine light come on and go off. When the breaks are applied and when the check engine light is off the car idles down and sometimes cuts off, but it starts back up. When the check engine light is off while driving, the car hesitates and sputters, it go's slow even if the pedal's to the floor.

The car will also sometimes cut off if I am backing up.

Sometimes when I start the car, it will sometimes make a backfire sound, idle down and even cut off when the check engine light isn't on. But it sometimes runs just fine when the light is off.

Also latelywhen I start the car and the check engine light is on, I put my foot on the brake and attepmt to put the car in drive (or reverse) but the car will cut off soon as my foot is applied to the break.

Today the car stalled, and when i tried to start it back up the check engine, voltage and temp light were flickering very fast and you could here, hear ticking on the right side of the car. I left to get tools so i can remove the wires from the battery to reset the computer. but when i returned about 20 minutes later if that, I started the car and the check engine light was off and i drove it home just fine with no problems.

I unplugged the abssensor connector and started the car, it ran smooth in park, in drive and reverse, you could hear the engine by passing something instead of it idling down and cutting off. and when put into drive and pulled out of the garage alittle the fan finally turned on. Later on my mother went to start the car but it wouldn't stay started. I went back out about an hour later, plugged the abs sensor back in and she started the car, it started up great it idled down alittle but didnt cut off when break was applied, while in drive or reverse.

This has been a major problem for the past 4 days (applying brakes and voltage/temp lights flicker, making check engine light come on causing the car to idle down and sometimes stall)

This is my family's only means of transportation, and I am clueless as to what the problem could be....HELP please! Thank you for your time.

That is so strange. I have a 1995 Buick LeSabre Custom. It is a great car when it runs right. However, lately the car cuts off for no reason. It drags on starting sometimes like the battery is bad, but it is brand new. Sometimes it won't even turn over and clicks like the battery is dead. If I play with the battery leads, it starts....most of the time. However, now it will cut off in traffic, or even sputter. She runs great when all is working, however, she fails enough that Ileave the thing at home now most of the time. A few times the speedometer has jumped around and all the lights flickered. The A/C blasted on and then off and so on with weird electrical stuff. But it is not all the time. I am lost on it too. I haven't taken anywhere, but then playing with the battery leads seems to help. However, I got them extra tight and now they won't move and the problem persists....Maybe I can get some help too.

The GM side post battery cable ends are a notorious problem spot. Either quality new (not the temporary jobs) or new cables may be needed. They corrode sometimes unseen and this smacks of that,
