Hey everyone i'm posting this thread today because I've gotten sick of my car stalling on me.. I'd really appreciate anyone's help if they know anything about this issue! Basically what happens is that my car starts perfectly fine in the morning but when I go to stop / slow down I lose a lot of RPMs and my car will sometimes stall and die. When it does die and I crank the engine I have to apply gas to get it to start. However, in the morning I don't need to apply any gas for it to start. One way I found to get around it stalling was to either give it some gas or put it in nuetral whenever i need to slow down / turn / or stop. This only happens at low speeds because whenever im going 20mph+ I do not have the stalling issue. My car Idle's fine in nuetral and in park but whenever I'm in drive and slowing down / stopping or if im switching from reverse to drive or vice versa it will potentially stall.

My car is a 1996 jeep grand cherokee laredo 6cyl v-8 and I really don't want to get a new car I'd rather just fix the issue myself . Thanks for any help on this issue and hope to get this fixed! Have a great day everyone!

It looks as if the owner before me has a different fuel pump relay then what it was manufactured with - https://imgur.com/a/z5hxP

I also should mention that I don't have any engine error codes on the dash!

First eliminate all vacuum or air leaks in the system (very important)

. You may have a bad IAC ( idle air control) but try cleaning the throttle body first. Remove the intake snorkel, have someone hold the throttle wide open for you and scrub the back side of the throttle plate and surrounding bore with an old tooth brush and some carb cleaner. Be sure to spray some into the small holes next to the throttle plate. That should help stabilize the idle. If it still has a problem, replace the IAC.
