1998 Chrysler Concorde LXI

I have a 1998 Chrysler Concorde LXI 3.2L engine with about 144,000 miles. For the past several months I have been trying to figure out a stalling problem with the car. There does not seem to be a pattern. It stalls at freeway speeds, stop and go traffic, rain, snow, sunshine, etc. Sometimes if it stalls going down the highway, I can push the throttle pedal to the floor and the engine will fire back up, but there are also times that it stalls that I have to coast to the side of the road and crank the engine for 5-10 minutes before it starts. There are no fault codes present to help pinpoint the problem either. In my research of this problem, I have found that issues like this usually point to a faulty cam position sensor or crank position sensor. I have replaced the cam position sensor and attempted to replace the crank position sensor. I purchased a new crank position sensor form Auto Zone but when I installed it, the car would barely run and it was throwing codes pointing to the crank position sensor. I put the old one back in and it runs fine (except for the stalling). If anybody has had a similar problem or can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate the help. I would like to fix the problem myself rather than dealing with and paying a Chrysler dealer, but I don't want to keep throwing parts at it either. Thanks!

When you replaced the crank sensor, did it come with a little "dot" with sticky on one side? If so, did you place it on the bottom of sensor before installation? This is a spacer to be sure the proper gap is there for the sensor to work properly. Just put it on the bottom of sensor, install sensor, and the little "dot" will come off when the engine spins over and cause no damage. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

Yes, it did have the spacer sticker on the bottom of the sensor. The cam position sensor had one as well. I suppose that it is possible that the one I bought was defective. If the problem is the crank sensor, wouldn't that throw a code?

thom; We've had problems with aftermarket crank sensors. I'd recommend buying one from the dealer. (Cam sensor won't cause the problem you are having). Loren SW Washington

Guys, I am having the exact same identical problem. Does anyone have an update on what the repair is. I've also replaced the sensors with no luck. I've seen posts where it might be an electrical problem. Has anyone pinpointed where the problem is? Please help, I believe that, thanks to this problem, it has caused damage to the transmission. I do not want to repair the transmission to only have the same problem damage the next transmission.
