1998 Regency Elite engine cable identification Sign In

1998 Oldsmobile Regency Elite ~ 150k miles

The car recently took a dive into a ditch so I'm getting it working as best I can. In my inspection I found a cable unplugged and I can't seem to identify it. I'd appreciate some help with it (pictures below).

Edit: The car seems to run fine without it plugged in.

I have no idea what you are trying to show us in those pictures.

I don't see an electrical connector. I see a vacuum modulator valve with a broken off vacuum line with a bunch of "dum-dum" wrapped around it. It's a vacuum line that goes on there.

Thank you! I'll start sniffing around for some detail on the vacuum line's function and a way to fix it other than the tape that was on there.

The modulator is for the transmission to smooth shifting. It should be supplied by a line that goes up to the throttle body, mostly metal.

That would explain why it shifts so roughly. Any suggestions on how to fix the connection?

Yeah, simply find the line and replace the rotted rubber hose portions and plug it back in.
