I have a 1998 aurora lodsmobile that has been giving me trouble for almost a yr. I can put water in the over flow and sometimes it will be fine for a month other times only a day! The water biols out the lid! I have replaced lid, thermastat, pressure tested, new hose! I have checked for leaks and see none but have watched it boil out of the lid to the over flow container! As I said sometimes it will be fine for weeks or a month others it will do it again the next day! A couple times the heater has gotten cold before I realized it was over heating but I have always caught it before it gets in the red! Othwer than that car runs great! Any ideas??? Please????

You need to have the cooling system pressure tested for leaks and chemical tested for exhaust gases in the coolant. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

There is no specific sensor dedicated to the fans. The PCM controls it with it's own temp monitors. See if they will come on when the A/C is turned on. They aren't programmed to come on without the A/C until about 225 degrees. You also wouldn't see any overheating issues when the car is moving if it was only a fan problem.

The engine coolant sensor is located under the reserve tank. Check whether it is working or not. if it's not working replace whole tank by dealer or maybe find on-line somewhere! You must remember that the Aurora t ALWAYS run with the air conditioning on. The Aurora front end design requires continous AC . Truck Repair

Ok I replaced the coolant sensor and my fans will only work when the ac is on! what else could it be? The fans won't kick on at all if ac isn't on! I'm soo frustrated!

They work, you're just expecting them too soon. They aren't programmed to come on until approx 225 to 230 degrees.
