1998 Chevy Cavalier, 2.02 engine, 150,000 mileage
Bought the car used and knew it had a fuel pump problem, replaced that. The car would turn over then die out, replaced the cam and crank sensors, still same thing. Was trying to figure out what tells the fuel to spray, bc this seems to be the problem after I start the car. You can start it and spray fuel into the intake directly and it runs fine, but when on its own I cant get the fuel to spray. Need help bad, bought this car for my wife to go to school in and it wont even run...fixing to take it across the scales.

Do you have a security light on or flashing when you try to start it.

Do a security relearn

PASSLOCK 10 MINUTE RELEARN

AUTO LEARN
Time required, approximately 10 minutes:

1. Insure that the battery is fully charged.
2. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
3. Turn the ignition switch from the OFF position to the CRANK position attempting to start the vehicle. The vehicle will start and then stall.
4. Leave the ignition switch in the ON position while observing the security indicator.
5. When the security indicator turns off, which can take up to 10 minutes, turn the ignition switch off. Wait 10 seconds.
6. The BCM and the PCM will learn the new code on the next start attempt.

I do not own a scan tool, is there another way to do this test? It will not run so I cannot take it to the local O'reilly's or another part store for them to do this test there.

Just skip that step. It's not necessary. They will clear themselves eventually.

Re: 1998 chevy cavalier from hell Sign In

Then it's time to tow it to a shop. You have a Passlock problem and that requires a factory scan tool to diagnose.

LOL. If you can't fix it, just send it up the creek or off the edge of a cliff. I didn't see anything and I don't know anything...Angelic

No, that's what you get when you try to repair high tech computer systems with no knowledge or equipment. Take a Ford swimming and see how good it runs.

From what I gather the Cavalier wasn't a family heirloom. I guess Cavalier from hell should be changed to the Cavalier from Dawson's creek.

Re: 1998 chevy cavalier from hell Sign In

I just tried bypassing the anti theft on the cavalier that was factory with a universal bypass module, and was told that I could do this without having the remote start system to bypass the current anti theft system, but I am still having trouble with the wiring, could you please help me out?
