1999 Grand Am Cooling System Issues

I have been working on my daughters 1999 Grand Am with the 3.4 L V6. I have just finished replacing the head gaskets. Wasn't too bad of a job, but a job nonetheless. Listed below are the issues I'm having; 1. When I first start the car from cold, it runs for about 10 seconds and then the cooling fans come on. It never did this before. I was told that the fans dont come on until the temp gets to 230 deg. 2.The temp gauge on the dash shows no movement( 100 deg.) even though, with the heater on, the air coming out of the vents will literally burn your hand after running for about 20 minutes. Replaced temp sender. No change. 3. Low coolant light on dash on. Replaced sensor for a second time. No change. Are these problems related somehow? Please help, as she won't give me my Thunderbird back until this POS is fully functioning.

You probably don't have it full yet and it's full of air pockets. I don't know what you did here but if you didn't do this right to include sending the heads out to the machine shop for planing and pressure testing and used new head bolts, you will be paying someone to do it all over the right way.

Nope sent the heads to be looked at and every thing is said to be ok. And its my thought that if the system was full of air bubbles I wouldn't have the circulation to produce the heat felt at the interior vents. This thing will cook the skin off your hands and the temp gauge reads"100".

Let me tell you something............... I've done many, many 3.1 and 3.4 head gasket jobs and not one of them didn't require resurfacing the heads so I really question your machine shop's advice. The temp gauge reads 100degrees because it trying to read air, not coolant and it's not designed to do that. You may have even wiped out the head gasket again at this point if you got it that hot.
