2000 Buick Air Pump

I have a 2000 Buick Century The service eng.soon light came on.
I had it on a comp.and it said the Air pump was bad.Anybody know how hard the pump is to put on because i was thinking of doing it myself.Any help would be greatly appricated.

No, it didn't tell you that the air pump was bad. That's not what codes do. It recorded a specific occurrence and you need to determine what caused it.

Another words, what was the trouble code number you got?

I had a mechanic do it and he said it was the air pump thats all i know

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Loosen the AIR exhaust pipe hose pinch clamp.
  3. Disconnect the AIR exhaust hose from the AIR pump.
  4. Disconnect the AIR pump electrical connector.
  5. Remove the nuts securing AIR pump bracket to the frame.
  6. Remove the AIR pump and bracket as an assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

  1. Secure the AIR pump and bracket to the Frame mount with the nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts securing the AIR pump mounting bracket to 50 N.m (37 lb ft) .

  1. Connect the AIR pump electrical connector.
  2. Lightly lubricate inner edge of AIR exhaust hose.
  3. Attach the AIR exhaust hose to the AIR pump outlet port.
  4. Place the AIR exhaust hose pinch clamp around the AIR pump outlet port and exhaust hose connection.

You might want to call your mechanic and ask him/her what the trouble code number was or if the check engine light is on, you can swing into Autozone and they can scan it for you.

Without the trouble code number we have no clue what is going on with your A.I.R system.

Or if you believe your mechanics prognosis, then there is the procedure above.Sly
